About the Author
Walt Ream, Professor of Microbiology, Oregon State University, received the Richard M. Bressler Senior Faculty Teaching Award for developing the course this book supports. In addition to this work, he has written numerous peer reviewed scholarly papers, review articles, book articles and chapters and has co-authored another book entitled, Molecular Biology Techniques: An Intensive Laboratory Course. His research led to a discovery for which a patent was issued in 2004. He regularly reviews grant proposals for NSF, USDA, DOE, NIH, American Cancer Society, NSERC-Canada, Lindbergh Foundation, Corporation for Plant Biotechnology Research and he reviews papers for Journal of Bacteriology, Plant Molecular Biology, PNAS, Science, Molecular & General Genetics, Microbiological Reviews, Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, Biochemistry, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Plasmid, Gene, Plant Physiology, Journal of American Horticulture Society, and Molecular Microbiology. He is a member of Genetics Society of America, American Society for Microbiology, and American Association for the Advancement of Science.

You too can be a pushover!

I'm in to chapter 29 or so and I've got to say that this is just a masterful guide to living your life as an also-ran.

Bregman offers stellar advice like 'stop setting goals', stop arguing, ignore people who betray you because, well, people aren't perfect.

It's just disgusting.

All of that aside, the narrator of the CD version even sounds like he's whining through the whole thing.

There are some interesting insights (hence the 2 instead of 1 stars) but on the whole, this is a waste of time.

Don't buy this. Instead go for:

- "The Strangest Secret" by Earl Nightingale (or better yet, listen to it. the man's voice is amazing.)
- "As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen
- "The Richest Man In Babylon" by George S. Classon

Or the granddaddy of them all:

"Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. Yeah the language is a little archaic and at times, hokey. But it's a stellar work.

To Anyone Reading One Of The One Star Reviews. This Book Is A New Classic.

As an author of books on selling, I keep an eye out for the best books on sales and sales psychology. This book is a game changer.

In reply to the few one star reviews...It has been stated in the uncharitable reviews, that the entire content of the book could have been written in a few pages. I agree, at first look, this would seem true. The Harvard Business Review article "Harnessing the Science of Persuasion" by Cialdini, from their October 2001 issue....is a good example. You can even get the Six Principles from the books Table Of Contents...save yourself some time.

But sales ideas have to not just be listed....not just explained...they have to be sold. Examples have to be given, Principles have to be
explained...we need proof. And you need the entire book to do that. The people who read a short article by the author, maybe read the
ideas...but nothing else happens. Salespeople are changed by the content of this book, like with all great sales books. For salespeople to benefit from a sales book, the ideas have to be explained, understood, proven, accepted, and made real. This book does that.
I own perhaps 2,000 books on the subject of selling. This is certainly in the top 5.

Although there are thousands of different tactics that compliance practitioners employ to produce yes, the majority fall within six basic categories. Each of these categories is governed by a fundamental psychological principle that directs human behavior and, in so doing, gives the tactics their power. The book is organized around these six principles, one to a chapter. The principles—consistency, reciprocation, social proof, authority, liking, and scarcity—are each discussed in terms of their function in the society and in terms of how their enormous force can be commissioned by a compliance professional who deftly incorporates them into requests for purchases, donations, concessions, votes, assent, etc. ...

Each principle is examined as to its ability to produce a distinct kind of automatic, mindless compliance from people, that is, a willingness to say yes without thinking first. The evidence suggests that the ever-accelerating pace and informational crush of modern life will make this particular form of unthinking compliance more and more prevalent in the future. Great content but e-book version needs update

As far as psychology books go, this one is highly readable and even enjoyable. There is a wry sense of humor told tongue-in-cheek as only academics can. To learn about the dark art of 'compliance professionals' is entertaining, and may even be useful, though I wouldn't call this a self-help book. It also goes a bit more in-depth than your average popular psychology text. While the content deserves five stars, I give this book 4 stars because of the Kindle edition. As an “extravagant and wheeling stranger/ Of here, and every where” (1.1.135-136). Othello is not just like any other man, but largely defined by his origin and colour. In this paper I want to examine the role of Othello's skin colour in the play and if we can consider the play as racist. Although these questions are today probably more relevant than ever, my main focus will be to analyse the importance of race in the context of Shakespeare's times.
In order to answer the question, whether or not Othello is a racist drama, I first have to define the term 'race'. As the concept of race has changed over time and is still changing, I will also look at Elizabethan attitudes towards race and foreigners and how strangers were portrayed on the Elizabethan stage. The play is not set in England, but in Venice, a place that serves a certain function in the play, which I will also examine. In the second part of this paper I will look at the play itself and its characters. I will analyse the different roles and their attitudes towards Othello's colour and how they influence Othello's self-perception and his personal fate. In Othello skin colour and blackness stand for more than just physical appearance or cultural background, but it is also linked to the character's inner lives and it largely determines the outcome of the play. The importance of racial concepts in Othello will be examined in the last part of this paper.

Thoroughly riveting

Karin Bishop's Fool Moon is a thoroughly riveting book. It's a story about a young man who comes to terms with his own gender identity, while addressing the prejudices of father and friends. But beyond that, it is a deep and lovely tale about finding ones' rightful place in the scheme of things. Set in the context of magic and witchcraft, it appears on the surface to be a parable for the journey of many gender variant individuals to find their true niche and inner strength. However, as it eventually turns out, our young protagonist wasn't actually transgender or even intersex at all. I'll leave it to the reader to find out who this "person of power" really was.

This is a haunting tale that provides some realistic and believable theories as to why things happen the way they do and why there are always clear paths, reasons and choices for our actions. Serendipity aside, it turns out that the random collisions of atoms in the universe may not be quite so random after all. This is an exceptionally well-crafted novel demonstrating both to the lead character and to the reader, how everything makes perfect sense in the context of free will and choices, intelligent or not. The author, an exceptionally insightful, talented and gifted writer, could easily have been a programmer as the story unfolds with the irrefutable logic of the flow chart of a finely tuned computer application. I highly recommend this book.

I cant stop reading this book.I havn't had that much trouble putting down a book since where the red fern grows. the author knows how to keep you wanting more as the story goes on. I've been reading for nearly 7 hours streight.If you like life changing stories or just good literature in general. I would deffinetly recomend this book. A mistery wrapped in a fantacy that will keep you reading into all hours of the nite. this book deffinetly gets five stars.Fool Moon

A "spellbingind" tale by a gifted Author

I have been a fan of Ms Bishop's work since my initial encounter ...I think it was Fashion Club (thank you Kindle recommendation engine).
While her works share many common themes, primarily self-actualization with a transgender perspective, and wonderfully drawn characters who often embody the best of human nature - or aspiration, her 'similar' stories are astoundingly varied in their themes ans circumstances. But each one I read made me think "These are people I would feel privileged to meet in the real world".
Her deep and skilled character development, her remarkable gift of crafting a compelling story, her empathy and obvious affection for her characters, and her general ruminations and observations about ...life, the universe, and everything... have earned her efforts a 'fast-pass' to the top of my reading list. I have yet to read a story of hers that disappointed or failed to meet my ever-rising expectations.
I would put 'Fool Moon' up with Stephanie Myer's 'The Host' as one of my happiest surprises in recent reads. My only concern is that the transgender theme might brand this a 'niche' work. While it is a pivotal part of the story - as is the fact that the story takes place on planet earth and all the characters are humans (hope none of those are SPOILERS!) the story is rich with so many observations on the human condition, and is just so dang... Charming (2nd - and last pun, I promise) that it deserves to reach a larger audience than its core niche.
I can not recommend this book too highly. Nor can I thank Karin Bishop enough for sharing her talents with Kindle readers.

Dr Pang, the creator of Zhineng Qigong, wrote 14 books but this is the first time a book written by him has been translated into English. The diagrams of the original book are reproduced alongside their related text, making it easy to follow instructions. The translation is enhanced by the addition of diagrams showing all energy points mentioned in the text, along with location instructions for each one. There is also a useful glossary of important words and concepts. Initial translation from the Chinese was by Master Wei Qi Feng, who is eminently qualified to undertake this challenge. After completing the two-year Teacher Training class in 1995, he was part of the small group chosen to teach new methods created by Dr Pang and any modifications of existing methods. Now with many years of teaching behind him, he holds workshops internationally and runs retreats in China. The other challenge was to produce well-written, clear English text. Patricia Fraser has considerable experience in this area. It includes re-wording the translation of an important lecture Dr Pang gave, sold as a book and DVD set entitled “Using Yishi Developing Human Potential through Qigong” translated by Samuel Lau (now out of print).

About the Author
Dr Pang was born into a family of taiji and qigong practitioners. He learnt Daoist taiji from a very young age and achieved high gongfu. He became a renowned practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, but gave this up to create a new qigong system that he thought would be of greater benefit worldwide. He drew on traditional postures and movements but developed and integrated them into more complete and effective methods. He pioneered the use of the qi field and developed a full theory of the laws of the universe, including theories about human life activity and the human mind. Wei Qi Feng has dedicated his life to Zhineng Qigong since he learnt it in 1991 at the age of 17 (when it was known as Flying Crane Form). Some years ago he taught himself English so he could spread its benefits more widely. In 2010 he set up the Harmonious Big Family, joined by other high-level teachers. They run English-language teacher training courses and retreats in China and also teach internationally. Patricia Fraser discovered Zhineng Qigong in 1999. She has worked on a range of Zhineng Qigong texts, including several books. She holds an M.A. in Sociology. It took me almost a year to find a copy of this out-of-print book. I wish it is available electronically so that anyone who wants to study the material can get hold of it in some from. I am still reading it, mostly using the book as reference for my practice. I may provide more detail info another time.
