A top-notch O'Reilly book for front-end devs.

Frontend Architecture for Design Systems: A Modern Blueprint for Scalable and Sustainable Websites is a top-notch O'Reilly book. The author, Micah Godbolt, does a great job covering a somewhat complex topic surrounding the 3 primary CSS design methodologies: OOCSS, SMACSS, and BEM. He covers each method in detail with a wide-array of graphic illustrations and screenshot examples but does spend majority of the book on his own blend of SMACSS and BEM, which as a front-end dev myself, found very applicable for my work with PHP-based CMS solutions. Regardless of what front-end framework you deal with, this book will spark all kinds of new ideas and help you expand your own reach with CSS.

Solid for Intermediates, Annoying for Seniors

This is a solid read for someone needing to make sense of the "Why" of the current CSS landscape. For those experts who've already been doing this, it provides a solid summary without being too annoying.
Not a fan of the writing style. In fact, I feel that this editor failed their author. I'm not sure who's at fault for the divisive rants, needless paragraphs and all-around immaturity. Although this might be a marketing strategy to get at front-end developers who don't have broad industry experience.
The first half of this book is really close our CSS interview. The second half is how Red Hat derived their own Pattern Lab. And for all the talk of JSON Schema, I feel that this book didn't do enough to demonstrate the connection of JSON that ran through the view templates back through to the APIs. A larger architecture diagram of the final version might have helped here.

Excellent text for Massage Therapists and Schools

As a former Technical Writer and Instructional Designer and a current Massage Therapist, I find this book, Condition-Specific Massage Therapy, extremely well laid out and easy to follow. It's also packed with extremely useful info! Unlike some of the other books on massage therapy research and technique that I've seen, this book has the illustrations worthy of a Human Kinetics series book and ties solid massage research into each chapter. Condition Specific Massage Therapy makes a great reference book and teaching tool.

Ms. Bucci's book begins with an intro chapter that covers:
* Basic biomechanics
* Health history
* Common sign and symptoms
* Tissue texture issues
* ROM basics
* General massage principles and application info
* Physiological affects of different massage strokes!
* Info on hydrotherapy, mobs and postisometric relaxation
* Treatment goal planning and self care basics

The rest of the book is broken into chapters by condition:

* Tension headaches

Real "Recipes" for Real Results

This book is like a cookbook for musculoskeletal dysfunction--with real solutions. I've seen books before that I would call a "recipe" book for soft tissue conditions, but Condition-Specific Massage Therapy goes way beyond the other ones I've seen. Excellent assessment skills, case studies and step-by-step ways to get clients out of pain. Great illustrations, too. Massage instructors should adopt this book...it will help get entry-level massage students better prepared for the real world! It's also great for seasoned therapists who might need a refresher, and I would even recommend it to PTs, chiropractors and others who work with soft tissue issues.

Exactly what massage education needs to develop...Critical thinkers!

This book is an excellent learning tool for the student to the seasoned therapist.
In part I, Ms. Bucci provides "the fundamental priciples" descibing the basic tools, tissues and triggers of disorders to help you understand the importance of foundational knowledge to a successful practice.
In Part II She applies that knowledge to common specific problems describing through words, diagrams, charts and true to life pictures ways that are easy to follow, developing critical thinking skills along the way. To top it off, it's based in research!
Part III: Ms. Bucci takes you back to the larger picture of muscles, ligaments and tendons bringing us to the whole again.
I love this book for the fact that you can learn something no matter how long you have practiced. Coming back to the foundation and evaluating the mechanisms of the body in a clear and consise manner helps us all develop. I'm looking forward to using this book as part of my research development training.

Among the most articulate and original defenders of that view were Marie le Jars de Gournay, Anna Maria van Schurman, and Francois Poulain de la Barre. Gournay published The Equality of Men and Women in Paris in 1622, while one of her Dutch correspondents, Van Schurman, published in Latin her Dissertation in support of women's education in 1641. Poulain wrote a radical Physical and Moral Discourse concerning the Equality of Both Sexes in 1673, which he also published in Paris. These three feminist tracts transformed the language and conceptual framework in which questions about women's equality or otherwise were subsequently discussed. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, anonymous plagiarized editions and pirated translations of Poulain's work appeared in English, as 'vindications' of the rights of women. This edition includes new translations, from French and Latin, of these three key texts, and excerpts from the authors' related writings, together with an extensive introduction to the religious and philosophical context within which they argued against the traditional view of women's natural inferiority to men.

About the Author

Desmond M. Clarke is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the National University of Ireland, Cork. He was awarded a D.Litt from the National University of Ireland, was a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute and a Fulbright Scholar, and is a member of the Royal Irish Academy. He is the author of a number of books on seventeenth-century philosophy, and has also translated texts of the same period from Latin and French, including Descartes and Louis de la Forge.
