About the Author
Peter G. Ossorio (1926-2007) was Professor of Psychology at the University of Colorado in Boulder. After receiving his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UCLA in 1961, he joined the clinical psychology faculty in Boulder where he taught, supervised, mentored, wrote and conducted research for his entire academic career, and where he founded a discipline that came to be known as Descriptive Psychology. The substance and practice of Descriptive Psychology includes significant work in the fields of psychotherapy, clinical case formulation and diagnosis, the psychology of relationships, teaching of moral judgment, virtues, theology, spirituality, multicultural psychology, artistic and literary analysis, business management, marketing, organization theory and practice, artificial intelligence, and automatic document retrieval and the list continues to grow.

5 stars are not nearly enough

If you have ANY interest in Psychology, Philosophy or understanding yourself and your fellow man buy this book, read it and re-read it again every year. Peter Ossorio is the most important psychologist you never heard of. Descriptive Psychology is the most important school of thought you never heard of. There are 5 other titles in his collected works, but this is the only one accessible to the uninitiated. I could not begin to summarize this work but I can restate the slogans by which it lives:
(1) The world makes sense and so do people. They make sense now.
(2) It is one world. Everything fits together. Everything is related to everything else.
(3) Things are what they are and not something else instead.
(4) Don't count on the world being simpler than it has to be.
