We need to see what is proper and what is not.

This is a complicated and helpfull book for idententifying the right professional and challenging a wrong one. A great tool for the parent involved in a child custody battle. Buy this book if you are able to make "Agreements that Work" or have to resort to the wealth of information in "Win Your Child Custody War". Because a bad situation can improve and a good situation can go south in a heart beat.

Marguerite was born in 1889 in Lapeer, Michigan. She wrote and illustrated twenty-eight books for young readers that won her a large and faithful audience as well as prestigious awards. An Outstanding Example of Adventure and Character

Yonie (short for Jonathan) is a seven-year-old Pennsylvania Dutch boy whose curiousity and distractability earns him the name "Yonie Wondernose." One day his parents leave him with his sister and grandmother to care for the farm overnight, and Yonie strives to prove that he is worthy of the responsibility entrusted to him. That night a fire breaks out in the barn, and he and his grandmother must rescue the animals (the family's livelihood) from the flames. Throughout the adventure, Yonie strives to earn the reward his father has promised him"when he is old enough to be trusted like a man."

This story deservedly won a Caldecott Honor in 1945 for its excellent writing and fine storyline. de Angeli does a fine job capturing the exuberant immaturity of this likable child, drawing an appealing picture of a young person striving to overcome childish impulses and earn respect. It is especially wonderful that the prized reward has to do with his desire to attain to manhood: rather than seeking to gratify his immature desires, Yonie aspires to the respect and honor that is only given to the mature. His father's quiet pride and understated affirmation, following his near-heroic efforts to rescue the animals, are a prize worth gaining.

De Angeli captures a little of the flavor of Pennsylvania Dutch language along with many details of everyday life. Her characters are appealing, the family is warmly loving, and the story itself is full of excitement and danger. It will appeal to both boys and girls, but especially boys. It contains more prose than most picture books and is a perfect fit for children who are just transitioning into chapter books.

Yonie Wondernose is a charming book that, along with Marguerite De Angeli's other classics, deserves to be in every elementary school and public library. Award-winning De Angeli is both illustrator and author and her artwork introduced me to the world of the Amish, Mennonites and Quakers.

"Yonie" lets us peek into the world of a working farm where every family member, even seven year old Yonie, has responsibilities. But his "wondernose" often leads him to satisfy his curiosity before chores. One special night Yonnie faces new duties. Will his wondernose get the better of him, or will he earn new respect from Papa?

Published in 1944, Yonie Wondernose remains today a wonderful story about a young Amish boy living with his family on their farm, who acquires his name because of his never ending curiosity. Whatever task he pursues he's endlessly drawn to explore diversions and loses track of what he set out to do, until one fateful night when he saves the farm from fire. With humor and affection, Marguerite de Angeli depicts in her story and her illustrations, a family and a bright little boy, while describing at the same time, all that is best in an Amish community in Pennsylvania.

Love this book. Lists the most important, tried and true healing info for each crystal. Nice small compact book to carry to crystal shows. Some crystals are listed that I have never seen, and some more common crystals are not listed. Still, it is a great reference book.

Terrible on Kindle!!!!

Terrible on Kindle!!!! I just downloaded this because it's considered one of the best reference guides on crystals. I had hoped this updated edition would have improved the photos...but noooo. Perhaps in print it's the best but on kindle it's horrible. Any reference on crystals has to have good photos if it wants to be taken seriously. Unfortunately the photos in the e-book are itty bitty and when you try to zoom in to see them better the quality is so poor that it just looks like a colored blob with absolutely no details. This is a serious defect as any illustrations in a kindle book must be digitized in top quality... I would expect to pay7 bucks for a kindle reference book put out by a reputable publisher and author and I'm right to expect top quality for that money...I'm more than disappointed in this e-book... as a field reference it is useless without good photos!!!

Not a good book for beginners

Okay, before I write my actual review I'd like to say, I DO NOT like or enjoy posting a "bad" or negative review however I'm always compelled to give my honest opinion, that being said, I'd like to do so in a respectful manner, so on with the review: I have been working on my Crystal/Gemstone, mineral collection for about 2 years now. I bought this book (555 Healing Crystals), along with Judy Hall's "The Crystal Bible" & some raw stones that give no kind of I.D chart what-so-ever!! Well, the "Healing Crystals " book is all pictures of tumbled stones with a small list of attributes for each stone, so if you have absolutely nothing to go on & no "special" tools to help you identify gemstones/crystals, minerals, then it will most certainly be a difficult task to make an solid I.D.. But, not only is it just tumbled stones it is small images of tumbled stones. The photography itself was good but overall that really wasn't takin into account because I also discovered that some of the info given does not match up to other books/material on the subject, which led me to look a little more closely @ this books material & I found their are a good number of things that do not correspond with other material, so.................. is all the other material wrong, or is it this book??!!!!! "My opinion" if you are someone that is just beginning to learn, work &/or collect these beautiful stones I wouldn't get this book especially if you are needing to identify or truly learn. As a reference maybe, but as I stated I found several things that do not match up with other "respected" materials......... Well that's my review, Sorry its such a long one!! Hope this helps someone!!Have a wonderful time on your crystal journey, loved ones!!!!!!!

On the morning of September 11, 2001, while stranded on the runway for three hours in Chicago, the captain informed us a gate was finally available, but he would have to call the chief of pilots to brief him on our situation. A few minutes later the phone chimed, "We are a security risk and can't come to the gate. They are going to storm the airplane from the rear. Disarm your doors in the back of the cabin..."***I knew I should have trusted my instincts by not going out with a stranger on a layover. A tear fell down my cheek as I looked into his eyes. They were glazed over with an animalistic look to them. I thought to myself, I am either going to be raped or killed. No one knows where I am...***As the hour grew close to midnight, the trapped passengers who were once calm and subdued lost all dignity by definition. Call lights chimed in frustration. The passengers began to chant."WE WANT OFF, WE WANT OFF!" I called the captain to let him in on the action. "You might want to hear this..."***After a long grueling day, I couldn't wait to take a short break. Unfortunately, the unwanted sound of the phone chimed. Shelly, the first class flight attendant, yelled, "Get up here, NOW!" I made my way through coach wondering what I was going to find. As I entered first class, the putrid smell of vomit permeated the air. I continued to where the commotion was taking place in the first row. There, a man's body lay lifeless, slumped to the left. Fluids seeped from his mouth and his face was ashen. As I approached him, his eyes opened slightly. Thank God he's alive. I unlocked the oxygen from the bracket...***While filling my tank in uniform at the gas station, a young man opposite of me spoke up with curiosity, "You're a flight attendant, huh? I bet you have some stories to tell!"

Christine Churchill has enjoyed her career as a�flight attendant for a major commercial airline for over 25 years.�She is a�two time professional flight attendant of the year award�winner and in 2013 was honored with the�prestigious Flight Service Outstanding Employee Award.�She resides in Florida with her husband, Daryl.

Great Read for Your Next Flight!

If you are considering a career as a Flight Attendant or travel regularly on the airlines, this is a very good book for you. The author sheds light on some of the inner workings of an airline. She also revels some typical, and not-so-typical life experiences of airline crews. I travel a lot and found this book quite entertaining and informational. I feel like I've experienced life as a flight attendant. Really enjoyed it!

Entertaining education about the life of a flight attendant!

This book reveals the ups and downs of working in the airlines industry. It is bursting full of stories that are seen through the seasoned flight attendant's eyes. Highly recommend it for anyone who flies or for anyone who is pursuing a career as a flight attendant. I gave it five stars because I could not put the book down! I found myself laughing out loud, reading about the paranormal, feeling horrified about the behaviors of some of the passengers, realizing the risks of flying daily and learning about what the entire crew experiences in general. Technical information was also described to acquaint the reader more about the functions of the airplane and what to actually do in case of an emergency.

I read this whole book in one sitting. It so good and brutally honest! I, too, am a flight attendant with about the same seniority as Christine and have shared a lot of the same experiences. Christine has a wonderful way of sharing these experiences with her wonderfully positive attitude. You, too, will enjoy this book and learn some valuable life lessons in the process. Enjoy!

About the Author

Sue Cloninger is a California native who, after living several places in the U.S. and Germany, has settled in upstate New York for the past three decades. She is a professor of psychology at the Sage Colleges in Troy and Albany, New York, and also teaches online through Empire State College. Currently she chairs the Institutional Research Board (IRB) at The Sage Colleges. Her graduate work at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, under a National Science Foundation fellowship, focused on personality and motivation. Other interests include topics at the interface of personality and social psychology, such as the self. She’s proud of her son John, an architect. In her spare time, she enjoys music, plays, and gardening.

Badly written

Having used this textbook for the undergraduate Personality course I taught for 1 semester, I could safely say it was very poorly written. The chapters are not organized to facilitate learning and some of the information contained therein was not necessary. The writing style is rather dull and as my students have told me numerous times, it failed to hold their interest. I should have reviewed it more carefully before choosing, but relied on others who had taught from it before me. Don't buy this - most other books on the market are better alternatives!

Understanding Persons

Thee was originally a bit of a mix-up at the beginning before I got the textbook but after I got it I see why my instructor chose it for this course. It is very readable and easy to find specific parts of each chapter with the headings and the way it is put together. I have read at least half already and it is one of those many books you sometimes have to keep for your personal collection.....

This book was a required book for a Psychology class that I am taking. I found it to be hard to follow because when studying certain people's theories the book would go off on tangents talking about ways to refute these same theories and all I needed to do was study the theory its self. There was a lot of back and forth material that made it a confusing read and made me more confused than was neceaasry.

A really fun read!

This is a fun and easy read. The stories are hilarious. Steve Moysey writes clearly with wit, finesse and candor. I strongly recommend this book for anglophiles, lovers of the English language and anyone who enjoys a good laugh.

Very funny must read for travelers from and to the U.K. & U.S.

Steve has done a great job blending his witty humour and writing skills to create a very entertaining and in many ways useful guide to the nuances of U.K. and U.S. uses of the English language. As an American ex-pat my self, it certainly was a fun read that had me chuckling the entire time as he went into great detail of some rather embarrassing situations that anyone who has had such experiences will fully appreciate. Nice work Dr. Moysey. You did it again.

Very funny book!! A must read!!

Steve Moysey is one funny author! This isn't his first book, but it is his first comedic book! In this book, he talks about moving from England to New England and the transition that he had to make between the cultures and languages.

I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a good laugh on the Brits and the New Englanders!
